Record a Lecture Live

Get a live transcript, rolling AI summaries, and an AI tutor while class is running.

Open Notoo on your laptop during class and click Real-time Recording on the Dashboard. Notoo transcribes what the speaker says, writes summaries as the lecture goes on, and saves everything as a structured note when you are done.

Before you start

In Recording Settings, choose:

  • Audio Language — the language being spoken.
  • Note Language — the language for the AI summaries.
  • Custom vocabulary (optional) — names, terms, or phrases you expect to hear, such as a professor's name or technical terms. This improves recognition.
  • Speaker Mode — Single Person for a lecture, Multiple People for a discussion or meeting.
  • Note Style — Concise, Detailed, or Faithful. This only affects the summaries; the transcript always stays true to speech.

Then click Start. Allow microphone access when your browser asks.

During class

  • Transcript (left) — the live text of what is being said.
  • Note (middle) — AI summaries that roll up as you listen. Click New summary to summarize the latest part right away.
  • AI Chat (right) — ask about anything you just heard, for example "Explain an important term from the transcript".
  • Translation — show the transcript in another language.

You can Pause and Resume at any time. If nobody speaks for 10 minutes, the recording stops automatically.

After class

Give the note a title, click Save, then click Stop. The note appears in All Notes, and you can expand it into mind maps, flashcards, and quizzes like any other Study Pack. See Study tools.

Stopping ends the session. The next time you record, Notoo starts a new note instead of continuing this one.

Troubleshooting

  • Microphone access was denied — allow the microphone for notoo.ai in your browser's site settings and try again.
  • No microphone found — check that a microphone is connected and not in use by another app.
  • Transcription disconnected — the timer may keep running but no new text appears. Stop and start a new session. If it keeps happening, check your network, VPN, or firewall.
  • Another recording session is already active — only one recording can run per browser. Stop the other one first.
